We want to make sure you have all the information you will need to answer any questions that your students may ask you about the price increases.

Why has my lesson price gone up?

  • There is a service fee included in your lesson price, this is goes to Tutorful and pays for the running of the platform

  • This service fee has been increased by Tutorful for all the lessons on the platform

  • The increase is due to inflation and the rising costs of running the business

Can you change my lesson price back to the old rate?

  • The lesson price has increased as Tutorful service fee has increased

  • The amount that I am earning for the lesson has stayed the same

  • As the service fee is applied by Tutorful I suggest you get in touch with them about the increased service fee. You can email support@tutorful.co.uk

How much is my lesson going up by?

  • You’ll have been sent an email from Tutorful explaining how much your lesson will have gone up by

  • The new lesson price will also be shown on the dashboard under your upcoming lessons.

  • Don’t worry if you can’t find this email, they have let me know that your new lesson price is X*

*Please refer to the email we sent to you on the 6th of March letting you know the new prices for your existing lessons

Can I just pay you directly?

  • We do need to keep all our lessons booked via the Tutorful platform

  • As well as this being one if the terms and conditions for using the website, we also benefit from having our lessons on the platform

    • Easy automatic payments

    • The use of the online classroom

    • Lesson recording and the feedback feature

    • Lesson reminders

The hourly rate shown on your profile is different from what I’m being charged?

  • There is a service fee included in the price you pay for your lessons and this is what has been increased by Tutorful

  • As you are already having lessons with me the price increase for your lessons isn’t the same as for new students - in fact it's a little lower!

I have another tutor and the lesson price has increased by a different amount, why is this?

  • As a tutor I set my hourly rate, which is the amount I earn, and then your lesson price that you pay includes a service fee for Tutorful

  • As tutors can chose what they earn per lesson, this means that lessons prices vary, which is why the increase for your other tutor is slightly different

  • If you are unsure about the price of a lesson with another tutor, the best thing to do is to get in touch with Tutorful and they will be able to help you out.

What is the service fee?

Has there always been a fee, I thought you received all the money I paid?

  • Yes, there has always been a service fee on Tutorful, the price you see on your lesson booking is my hourly rate plus Tutorful’s service fee
